Calgary Suzuki Strings Association
WELCOME TO CSSA
The Calgary Suzuki Strings Association (CSSA) is a not-for-profit organization supporting music education, student enrichment and community outreach events.
Operating since 1999, the CSSA brings together violin, viola, cello and classical guitar students and teachers from Calgary and area studios to develop a dynamic program of special events and workshops utilizing the Suzuki Method.
We hold annual events which include Suzuki method and non-Suzuki method students, parents and teachers. We provide unique service in Calgary which offer benefits to the community including: non-competitive festivals, collaborative workshops and world class teachers/clinicians.
Over the last twenty years our events have provided a variety of musical enrichment activities that otherwise would not be available in Calgary.

THE SUZUKI METHOD
The Suzuki Method was developed by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki (1898-1998), a Japanese violinist and educator.
He used a mother-tongue approach where children learn music by listening and repetition, much the same way they learn to speak their native language.
Key components of the Suzuki method include beginning early (as young as 3), daily listening, parent involvement, private and group lessons and regular encouragement from both teacher and parent.
